I am Dr. Francis, a native Canadian from Winnipeg, Manitoba. A strong commitment to collaborative work and dedication to patient care has marked my journey through medicine. It has taken me from Saba University School of Medicine for medical school, to Yale University School of Medicine as a preliminary general surgery resident, and finally to Summa Health in Akron, Ohio, where I completed my general surgery residency. I am currently a Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University. Here, I am privileged to work with a diverse and dedicated multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive and innovative care for our patients.
I perform outcomes research through various institution-approved studies, some focusing on the socioeconomic drives of disparities in cancer outcomes. I am enthusiastic about cancer care and surgical oncology, and I aim to improve the care of patients with cancer as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team. I am committed to advancing the generalization of scientific knowledge that will impact patients worldwide.
