I am a synthetic and material chemist working as a Senior Scientist (synthetic and material chemistry) at Vuronyx Technologies, MA, USA. At Vuronyx, we are focused on the commercialization of novel material science-based technologies and products. I am synthesizing and characterizing various materials that may solve pressing global issues.
I also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate under Dr. Jianguo Mei at Purdue University. I worked on a project titled “High contrast electrochromic polymers”. Our overarching aim was to understand the impact of structure on electrochromic polymers. During my time at Purdue, I led a small team of postdocs and PhDs who were dedicated to achieving a common goal of designing, synthesizing, and characterizing high-contrast electrochromic polymers. I designed, synthesized, purified, and characterized various novel monomers and electrochromic polymers. We published a patent “J. Mei, V. Pandit, Z. Wang. 2022. High transparency electrochromic polymers. US 20230251541 granted August 2023.” and its continue-in-part applications, "J. Mei, V. Pandit, Z. Wang, L. You. US 20230250223, granted August 2023." based on my results and are currently working on a manuscript.
I have completed my Ph.D. from the University of Queensland, Australia, on a project entitled “Synthesis of dendronized tridentate complexes for organic light-emitting diodes” supervised by Prof. Paul Burn, Professor School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, University of Queensland, Australia.
From my research work, I have expertise in the design, synthesis (with established skills in multi-step synthesis), and characterizations of inorganic and organic compounds (small, dendrimetric, and polymers). I have hands-on experience working with different instruments such as U.V.- Vis, NMR, LRMS, FTIR, Fluorolog, GPC, Automated Flash Chromatography, TGA, DSC, Cyclic voltammetry (electrochemistry), and software like ChemDraw, MestReNova, XCalibur, BrukerTopSpin, Igor and Prism. I have found my research journey a very enjoyable challenge and I am excited to continue developing my skills in R&D, synthesis, characterization, and analysis., Chemistry
