Hi,
I am reaching out to you in my personal capacity without representing any institution. I am a senior administrator in the rank of Associate Dean for Assessment at Marshall B. Ketchum University College of Pharmacy, Fullerton, CA. This school is a part of a comprehensive health sciences university. Besides, I hold the title of Director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness for the entire institution. I am looking for executive positions in the rank of Assistant/Associate VP of Institutional Effectiveness in other health sciences universities. I am also open to positions like Assistant/Associate Dean for Assessment and Accreditation in medical schools in the US. In addition, I would also consider Associate Deans for Assessment and Academic Affairs positions in pharmacy and other health sciences programs. Could your firm help me in finding a suitable executive position?
My Experience
I am a well-groomed academician with an in-depth knowledge of assessment, mainly pertaining to graduate, professional pharmacy, and related health sciences programs. I currently have dual administrative appointments at Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU): Associate Dean for Assessment at the College of Pharmacy and Director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness for the entire university. In addition, I also hold a faculty appointment in the rank of Associate Professor at Marshall B. Ketchum University College of Pharmacy. Marshall B. Ketchum University is a comprehensive health sciences university that is located in Fullerton, CA. It mainly offers professional doctoral degrees to pharmacy and optometry students. Besides, it offers a "Master of Medical Science" degree to physician assistant students.
During my academic career, spanning over sixteen years, I have passed through multiple phases, starting as a junior faculty member and then gradually advancing in academic/administrative ranks to reach my current position at MBKU College of Pharmacy (MBKU COP). Being an integral component of multiple new/start-up professional pharmacy programs has given me a unique perspective to comprehend the details of the pharmacy accreditation process that is continuously adapting to the needs and exceptions of the ever-changing health environment.
I firmly believe that, either at the institutional or the unit level, a well-crafted institutional effectiveness manual and evaluation plan should form the backbone behind all strategic/executive decisions undertaken to improve program quality. All assessment endeavors outlined in such a plan should be tailored for objectively evaluating the program and or institution's strategic goal statements with appropriate feedback from stakeholders. I am versatile in formulating strategic/assessment plans, developing various assessment tools that evaluate program quality, analyzing appraisal data (using inferential and differential statistics), and presenting assessment-related concepts at multiple forums.
In my capacity as the Director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) for MBKU, I have coordinated the submission of university reports to IPEDS, WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), and other regulatory agencies. Currently working under the supervision of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, I was responsible for guiding university-wide assessment activities for regional accreditation, including WSCUC's "Thematic Pathway Reaffirmation" of MBKU's accreditation in 2022. These endeavors focused on assessment, research, and strategic planning about academics, administrative offices, and support structures. My collective efforts with the university administrators resulted in a positive site visit culminating with WSCUC's reaffirmation of accreditation for a period of eight years. In addition, I have served both as Human Protections Administrator (HPA)/Research Integrity Officer for the entire university at different time points in my career. My previous role as the HPA led me to facilitate agreements between MBKU and external IRBs for streamlining institutional-wide research activities at MBKU. I completed the "ExamSoft Power User" certification in 2018. In 2020, I completed the prestigious "WSCUC Assessment Leadership Academy" (cohort X) with a project title entitled "Establishing a robust program review process for Co-Curricular Activities at Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU)."
As the Associate Dean for Assessment at the COP, I am responsible for comprehensively evaluating student learning, co-curricular and scholarly outcomes of the Pharm.D. curriculum at Marshall B. Ketchum College of Pharmacy, emphasizing continuous quality improvement of the program. I work collaboratively with various stakeholders to generate individualized and aggregate data and trends, documenting student progression and calculating indices for students' academic success. Data from these reports are being used by the COP to prepare self-study documents for the programmatic accreditation and rectify any weaknesses in the curriculum delivery process. I took a lead role in implementing assessment management platforms with integrity software programs, such as ExamSoft® (ExamID/ExamMonitor) at MBKU COP and expanded it to include "performance-based" assessments. I continue to have oversight over the ExamSoft® implementation process at COP. Besides, I manage other software (e.g., Qualtrics XM and E*Value™) for my office use.
I continue to strive scholastically. I serve as a reviewer for the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (AJPE). In addition to contributing to published articles, book chapters and delivering faculty development seminars, I tend to present my assessment findings at regional/national conferences. Appreciating the importance of data analytics in institutional research, I have started to educate myself in this field. I am familiar with data science concepts that highlight the importance of data analytics in various programmatic and operations endeavors in higher education institutions that optimize errors and maximize the return on investments.
I currently serve as Chair of the University Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) Committee. Besides, I am an ex officio representative of the COP Assessment and Curriculum Committees and a member of the COP Executive Council. I have worked in collaboration with administration and faculty to develop the professional pharmacy curriculum in multiple institutions., Academia, University Heights, Higher Education
