The Backstory

Our story started with a single idea. In 2004, Gary Preston envisioned a consultative search practice that could separate itself from the pervasive “Book it, Bill it, Fill it” industry mentality. To attract the best talent, and to identify the right person, for the right client at the right time, he knew you would need to get passionate about both the art and science of human relationships.

Teams are Cool

From golf to CrossFit, basketball to barbeque, cooking to hunting, and lake living to bird-loving, we’re a driven and seasoned team that takes our work seriously but also have lives. With a collaborative, rather than a competitive spirit, we build partnerships–internally and externally–for the long term.

Where it all Happens

We work in a vintage building that used to be a men’s retail store, circa 1880. Exposed brick, murals, and a restored bookcase make it feel less like an office, more like a library. Local high school art lines the walls–we sponsor their competition every year. David’s Aussiedoodle, Zoey, is usually hanging around the kitchen. Located on Main Street in old downtown Mooresville, we indulge in sushi, barbeque, beers or lattes when the time is right.
