Carter-White & Shaw is a black-owned and operated diverse attorney legal search firm located in Chestertown, Maryland. We specialize in recruiting a diverse pool of excellent attorneys for law firms and corporate legal departments nationwide. We also facilitate law firm mergers and acquisitions of law firm practice groups.
Carter-White & Shaw has been in business since 1991 to serve what was and still is an underserved market in legal recruiting: attorneys of color, women attorneys, gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender attorneys, and disabled attorneys who are seeking employers that value diversity and appreciate their talents. Until recently, our firm focused solely on the placement of law firms partners. We have never had to advertise, as satisfied candidates and clients have spread the word of our ability to place excellent attorneys with diversity-conscious employers. The attorneys we have placed, their reputation for excellence, and our reputation as a result of having placed them have been the foundation of Carter-White & Shaw's continued success.
Over the last year, Mr. Jordan and the firm, facilitated the largest placement of diverse attorneys of color ever in the history of the legal search business. In 2005, Mr. Jordan, brought together the largest contingent of diverse Partners to one law firm (Mintz Levin). This total placement was 15 attorneys which included seven senior attorneys and eight associate attorneys of color. 90% of the attorneys were African-American and 10% were Latino-American, including the former Chairman of the EEOC under the Clinton Administration.
Our mission is two-fold: To be the leader in the discovery and promotion of diverse legal talent; and to meet or exceed the expectations of our candidates and clients in the rapidly changing and increasingly competitive global legal community. We have already succeeded in accomplishing much of our mission--our stream of referrals from former candidates and clients is a testament to our ability to meet or exceed diversity placement expectations.
